Did you imagine that what does a ceramic watch looks like? Rado launched a piece of hi-tech ceramic watch. This marvelous, high quality, shining timepiece attracts consumers' eyes firmly. Now, lets go deeper to know this watch.
Moulding anything, means that the grain of the material flows into the design. Compare that to a piece of metal that is "cut" into its shape with a milling tool or on a lathe. The cutting severs the grain of the material like cutting across the grain in a piece of wood. A tree grows vertically. The grain in a tree goes from the roots to the branches. i.e. vertically. The strength of a piece of wood relies on the grain direction producing "layers" giving it inherent strength. When a slab of steel is made, it too goes through a longitudinal forming process which includes rolling to flatten and extend it. Like rolling pastry. This gives it a "grain". The fibres are "oriented". Cut this grain by machining and you reduce the strength of the item. Pushing material in a semi liquid state into a mold, ensures the grain flows throughout the mold without cutting it. This makes the resulting moulding very strong. The case of a ceramic watch uses this molding process to produce a very strong case. RADO is one of the first watchmakers to use this ceramic material in watchmaking and this makes their watches very special.
The ceramic raw material used is an ultra-fine zirconium-oxide or titanium carbide powder, with a grain size of about 1/1000th mm. The powder is homogenized and granulated, then heated in a special furnace to 1,450ºC. A process known as 'sintering'. The result is the full density and absolute hardness, of high-tech ceramics. This means a polished design with a case strong enough for the job. The final finish is a matte finish that is surprisingly attractive.
While Rado have some brand character to reflect in their designs, they have often changed watch shapes in the past to produce special design solutions. While they have changed the shape of this watch to be unique the design retains the integrated strap as a true Rado design link.
The complexity of the appearance of this chronograph watch has been simplified, by removing the third dial and reducing the overall size of the watch. Large watches can be a bit overbearing when worn, attracting too much attention. This watch is compact, subtle and functional. Do the job while looking beautiful and long lasting.
This watch impressed us by its unique design and features. Also, technology enables this ceramic watch to be more durable and shining compared with other materials. The imagination of human is bondless, let's enjoy it and explore with those genius.
